French rising violin star Léo Place‑Desprez makes his highly anticipated Hong Kong debut at the French May Arts Festival 2026, joining the NHKP Baroque Chamber Orchestra for an unforgettable evening of Baroque brilliance. 

Having already distinguished himself on major European stages, Place‑Desprez is acclaimed for his refined artistry and deeply expressive style. His performances embody the precision, elegance, and soul of French musicianship, marking him as one of the most exciting voices of his generation. 

The programme features Baroque treasures including Vivaldi’s Sinfonia in C major RV 112, Concerto for Strings in D major RV 121, Geminiani’s La Folia, and Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, before culminating in Vivaldi’s immortal masterpiece, The Four Seasons. With Place‑Desprez’s sensitivity and virtuosity, audiences will be guided through the vivid landscapes of spring, summer, autumn, and winter — a journey of nature’s beauty and emotional depth.

Léo Place-Desprez

Born in the North of France and after brilliant studies at Lille Conservatoire and Rueil- Malmaison Conservatoire, Léo integrated the Conservatoire National Supérieur d e Musique de Paris i n the class o f Sarah Nentanu and her assistant Eric Crambes in September 2023. He also integrated the classes of chamber music of Emmanuelle Bertrand, Itamar Golan, Michel Moragues and Michael Hentz. 

In June 2024 Léo Place-Desprez won the 1st prize at the International Violin Competition o f Cambrai in the soloist category. He was also a prize winner in other competitions : Vatelot-Rampal ( 2022) - Cambrai (2022) - Cantagrill (2023). He has already played with numerous violonists : Gabriel Le Magadure, Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjabédian, Pierre Fouchenneret, Ayako Tanaka, Marianne Piketty... 

He has taken part in numerous orchestras under the direction of prestigious conductors: Jean-Claude Casadessus, Lucie Leguay, Pierre Bleuse, Raphaël Pichon, Swann Van Rechem... 

He appeared several times as a soloist and i s regularly invited in festivals. He
also takes part i n numerous chamber music groups.
