Food and Theatre: A Dramaturgical Perspective by Billy Sy
Hosted by Billy Sy - founder of SY Performative Arts, producer, co-director and performer of BnS Food Show Ep.1 - Beef and Noodles, this talk will take you through the creative and dramaturgical perspectives of a new form of theatre - ‘Food Show’, with an interactive approach. He will join hands with Boris Leung, a Dramaturgy student at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), to get you experience the theme of the show first hand - the link between food and memory.
Currently a lecturer in voice/movement at the HKAPA School of Drama, Billy is an actor, singer, voice teacher, director, writer and corporate trainer in voice and public speaking. He has acted in a wide range of productions on stage and screen in HK and abroad, including musical theatre, plays and films. He was awarded Best Supporting Actor (Tragedy/Drama) at the 25th Hong Kong Drama Award 2016 and received various nominations throughout the years, including Best Actor at the Film Fest International Rome 2022. Billy is interested in the inter-relatedness of culture, identity, memory, migration, food, and voices, and would like to find ways to make them cross paths in arts.
