This year marks the fourth consecutive year Chinachem Group partners together with French May Arts Festival to present phenomenal artistic happenings and gourmet delicacies across the months of May and June. Jointly presented with French GourMay, the French Traditional GourMay Markets at Central Market and NINA MALL will feature a delightful array of exceptional artisanal specialities home to southern France. Coinciding with this special occasion and as an exclusive premiere in Hong Kong for the 2024 collaboration, French contemporary dance company, KHAM, will take over all three premises with their globally toured creation, Intrusion Chorégraphique. The playfully intricate work in-situ fuses rhythms of hip hop and butoh, weaving cross-disciplinary practices and cultures through performances and tailored workshops for all.

Sustainability-related contemporary dance workshops – KHAM

French May invites French Contemporary Dance Company KHAM – bringing 3 dance artists to present Intrusion Chorégraphique (Choreographic Intrusion).

In Intrusion Chorégraphique, the dancers intrude on varying spaces and settings, mimicking the human intrusion and effects on the natural world around us.

At the same time, the dancers meld and adapt effortlessly into the nature around them, showing the contrast of both affinity with and disruption of nature delivered and experienced by humans in the current world.

The programme incorporates performances, workshops and community engagement to present a meaningful artistic presentation linking seamlessly to sustainability and wider community outreach.

The performances are highly flexible to most spaces and require minimal technical support and set up.

Participants should wear comfortable, stretchy clothing that allows for a wide range of movement. Long hair shall be tied back, and jewellery shall be removed during the workshop.
