When a solar storm hits the holiday resort Mer Calme, located on a small island in Southeast Asia, everyone, tourists, and staff alike, see their daily lives turned upside down. There is no electricity, no internet, and no food supply. Therefore, they will have to inhabit together, for better or for worse.

Dr Miracle (Le docteur Miracle, 1857) was Georges Bizet's light and airy first opera, written when he was just eighteen for a competition run by the master of French operetta, Jacques Offenbach. A joint winner with Charles Lecocq, the opera was performed eleven times at Offenbach's Bouffes-Parisiens theatre. More operetta than opera, and only about an hour in length, Dr Miracle is a comedy that doesn't take itself too seriously, yet still shows early evidence of the talent of the future composer of Carmen.

Co-presented by French May Arts Festival and Musica Viva, produced by Prof. Lo Kingman, this programme features budding local singers performing a selection of songs while accompanied by a chamber ensemble and two contemporary dancers.

This concert showcases some famous and significant French works of the Romantic period. The programme covers solo, duo and ensemble vocal and violin compositions written by Franck, Faure, Duparc, and Ravel, to name a few. From the beautiful music, you will meet impressionism and find yourself in a space which is full of romance, blessings, ease, and warmth.

Before they divorced, Hugo and Gigi were a remarkable artistic couple. Since then, Gigi has fallen into depression while Hugo, her ex-husband, is trying to restart his theater acting career. As Hugo prepares for his comeback, his partner defects. His agent has the idea of reuniting Hugo and Gigi and making it a media event.
