School of Nice?!

School of Nice

1 May 5pm-7pm

HONG KONG CITY HALL, Recital Hall

In late 1950s, the beautiful and quiet Nice, an iconic city of the glamorous French Riviera, became the cradle of an unprecedented phenomenon of emulation in art. A young and charismatic generation started to invent their significant gestures, which would bring a great impact to the art history. Ambitious and attached to their cultural roots, this group of young people opened the way to new artistic attitudes at the heart of and in reaction to this tranquil seaside city. They also managed to weave linkages between Nice and international art capitals.

Speaker – Hélène Guenin

Hélène Guenin, Director of the MAMAC, Nice, is also the Chief Curator of School of Nice. She served as the chief curator for exhibitions, live arts and performances at Centre Pompidou-Metz (2008-2016) and Frac Lorraine (2002-2008).
