An enchanting afternoon of saxophone artistry in Écoute le Chant du Vent, a recital that weaves the fluid, evocative voice of the saxophone through French elegance, whimsical modernism, and contemporary innovation.
Hong Kong-born saxophonist Tak-chiu Wong — a globetrotting virtuoso whose career bridges Asia, Europe, and North America—brings his signature lyricism and technical brilliance to this thoughtfully curated program. Accompanied by the sensitive artistry of pianist Rachel Cheung and, in one special collaboration, violist Andrew Ling, they breathe airy life into an exclusively French program.
Hong Kong saxophonist, is acclaimed as an international soloist, chamber musician, educator, and arranger. Praised as an “outstanding performer” (Arts News, RTHK Radio 4) and “fantastic, excellent player” (Gerard Schwarz), he has appeared as soloist across Asia and the U.S., collaborating with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, University of Wyoming Symphony, and more. As chamber/orchestral musician, he has performed in over 15 countries with ensembles including Amigo Saxophone Quartet and Hong Kong New Music Ensemble. Passionate about contemporary music, Wong has premiered over 70 works and won the Barlow Award in 2016. He is Assistant Professor of Saxophone at CUHK (Shenzhen), artistic director of the Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy, and a Selmer Paris/D’Addario artist.
Hong Kong-born pianist, is celebrated as one of Asia’s leading artists. Praised as “a poet, but also a dramatist,” she gained international acclaim as a finalist at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, winning the Audience Prize. A Steinway Artist, she has performed worldwide at Carnegie Hall, Elbphilharmonie, Philharmonie de Paris, and with major orchestras including the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, and Sydney Symphony. An active chamber musician, she has collaborated with Joshua Bell, Ning Feng, and Anna Netrebko. Educated at HKAPA and Yale, she has won numerous international prizes and founded the Rachel Cheung Music Academy in 2025.
Principal Viola of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Acclaimed for his orchestral and solo performances across Asia, North America, and Europe, he has appeared with the Seoul Philharmonic, China Philharmonic, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and HK Phil. A versatile chamber musician, he has collaborated with Ning Feng, Yuja Wang, Cho-Liang Lin, and the Shanghai Quartet, and performed at the Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival. Ling also conducts internationally, serving as Music Director of the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra and finalist at the 2017 Besançon Conducting Competition. He teaches at HKAPA and Hong Kong Baptist University.
