Beyond theatre, beyond technology
The Sutherland Test is an immersive performance at the crossroads of theater and digital arts.
Organized in a public space, it brings together 16 participants responding to the invitation of a startup specializing in transcendence technologies. The participants are there to test their brand new revolutionary immersion device: the BUD (Black Up Display), a polysensory optical occultation prosthesis.
Thanks to these diverted Virtual Reality (VR) headsets, they will discover the true intentions of the group that supervises them, gradually realizing that they are now at the heart of a process gradually realizing that they are now at the heart of a process with a deeper aim...
Adelin Schweitzer is a French contemporary artist, director and performer. His work explores the social, political and perceptual effects of
technological imaginaries through immersive performances, installations and transmedia projects. Moving across XR, audiovisual
experimentation and speculative fiction, he develops critical situations that question techno-solutionism and the growing influence of
innovation narratives on contemporary life.
A graduate of the École Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en-Provence in 2004, he has created more than twenty works presented in France and abroad,
including at Chroniques Biennale, Interstice, Ososphère, Ars Electronica, SAT Montreal, ARCO, PatchLab and LEV Festival. He has also been
invited to speak at events and institutions dedicated to XR, research and higher education.
In 2017, he founded laboratoires deletere in Marseille, a platform for production, distribution and transmedia experimentation, through
which he continues to develop his artistic research.
deletere is an association that produces and distributes multimedia works and performances that question the public's relationship with Machines.
Founded by Adelin Schweitzer in 2013 in Marseille, deletere laboratories now host a production office, a shared workspace, a digital manufacturing workshop, and a sound experimentation stage.
Located in the heart of the Belle de Mai district, within the Le Couvent third-place since 2017, in five years
the laboratoires deletere have become the place for transmedia artistic experiments linked to the
practice of digital arts in Marseille.
Artocrite Theatre, founded by six enthusiastic graduates of the School of Drama of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts
in 2010, began as a project-based theatre group. Since 2020, the company runs as a nonprofit-making charity organisation in Hong
Kong. It is now a full-time and professional theatre company aspiring to share its beliefs and productions with a wider
audience in the global community.
The company produced a number of award-winning pieces: An Angel Dumped into New City (2016), “Awakening Series” trilogy Sin, The Truth from Liar and Eve (2016-2019). Their works were shown in the UK (Edinburgh Festival Fringe), South Korea, and Japan, including the co-production Me and Sailor Moon in a Subway Trip (2018).
