Journey of Encounters

Introduction

A French song recital of voice and harp, cross over with live embroidery. A selection of 14 art songs and a harp solo all composed by French composers, including Debussy, Ravel, Delibes etc. Along musical performance, there will be live embroidery presented simultaneously, providing the audience with not only audio enchantment, but also visual stimulations.

Wing Tracy Cheung 

Wing Tracy Cheung, equally accomplished in piano and voice, began her musical training as a pianist and chorister in Hong Kong. After graduating from the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Music Department, she pursued further studies at West Chester University of Pennsylvania under soprano Dr. In‑young Lee, earning two master’s degrees in Vocal Performance and Piano Pedagogy. She was a member of the Concert Choir and served as a graduate accompanist, supporting lessons, recitals, and competitions. At West Chester, she joined Collegium Musicum under Dr. Mark Rimple, focusing on early music, with highlights including Julianne Baird’s masterclass at the Amherst Early Music Festival (2017) and Monteverdi’s Vespers (2018). A keen advocate of French and choral repertoire, she frequently coaches choirs and singers. Recent performances include the University of Hong Kong Christian Choir Annual Concert (2024), Magnificat (2024), Gentle Airs recital, and Autumn Serenade at St John’s Cathedral (2025).

Li Oi Kiu Kilby 

Based in Hong Kong, Li Oi Kiu Kilby is a versatile harpist whose career spans Asia and beyond. She has collaborated with leading ensembles and festivals including the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Czech Symphony Orchestras, the Hong Kong Bach Choir, and the Asian and Singapore Harp Festivals. Highlights include Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro in a wind ensemble arrangement with the Chung Chi Wind Orchestra, and the Asian premiere of Paul Patterson’s Mosquitoes at the 2017 World Harp Congress. In 2021, she demonstrated the Iranian harp at a cultural festival hosted by HKUST and supported by the Consulate General of Iran. Kilby is developing new repertoire with soprano Tracy Cheung, with recent performances at Sheung Wan Civic Centre, St. John’s Cathedral, and Hong Kong City Hall, and will appear at the 2026 World Harp Congress in Toronto. 

Lilian Tsang 

After years of her professional practice in the fashion industry, Lilian acquired her professional qualification in Haute Couture Embroidery at ECOLE LESAGE, the prestigious embroidery arts school owned by Chanel Group in Paris, and interned for ELISABETH GASBARRE ROUSSEAU HAUTE COUTURE STUDIO at Lyon, FRANCE. 

  

Lilian is passing on her enthusiasm for embroidery by teaching short courses and to promote the art of fashion workmanship in Hong Kong.
