A Taste of French Opera

French opera is a significant art form with a history dating back to the 17th century, featuring composers such as Bizet, Massenet, Gounod, Saint-Saëns, to name a few. Grand opera was also developed in France. It is a deluxe opera form involving large-scale casts and orchestras, or even ballet dancers. Verdi’s Aida and Wagner’s Rienzi are examples of the influence of French grand opera on Italian and German operas.

This concert showcases solo arias and duets of some of the most famous French operas such as Carmen, Werther, Samson et Dalila and Les Contes d'Hoffmann. You will feel the charm of French opera by tasting different composers' works, just like tasting various cheeses and wines.
