Jointly presented by Opera Hong Kong and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Musical Gala Concert on May 9, 2009 will certainly be remembered by the audience as one that’s delightful, full of familiar and yet beautiful music that one would just love to listen to again and again.

The progrmme will include "I feel pretty" from West Side Story, "I could have danced all night" from My Fair Lady, "Think of me" from Phantom of the Opera, “I dreamed a dream” from Les miserables, and of course some French musicals, e.g. “Lune” from Notre Dame de Paris by Richard Cocciante and “J'ai peur” from Roméo et Juliette by Gérard Presgurvic, “L'air du Brésilien”from La Vie Parisienne by Offenbach, “Je vois marcher sous ma banniere” from Fra Diavolo by Auber and many more all time favorites.

The artists featured in the concert include Rachele Gilmore, a soprano and a winner in Placido Domingo’s prestigious Operalia World Opera Contest and in many other competitions; Sarah Joy Kabanuck, also a soprano, currently signed to Decca Records, has joined forces with some of the world’s top music producers and songwriters, and worked with Walter Afanasieff and Desmond Child; Deborah Domanski, a mezzo-soprano, has the ability to bring an extraordinary combination of scintillating musicality and captivating stage-presence to all her roles; Chad Johnson, hailed as a "tenor of distinction" by the Coral Gables Gazette, is quickly making a name for himself in the world of opera; Dominique Moralez, one of today's most sought-after young tenors, Paris' Le Figaro lauded his "convincing musicality" and Germany's Oberbayerisches Volksblatt noted his "shimmering clear voice with power and sweetness…”; John Hancock, a baritone, acclaimed for his refined vocalism and theatrical versatility, has created leading roles in several world premieres.
