This year Le French May offers an astounding stage rocking performance by the artist -M- (MATTHIEU CHEDID), one of the biggest stars on the French contemporary music scene, who is touring for the first time in Hong Kong and China.

A singer-songwriter of French rock, Matthieu Chedid is better known by his pseudonym -M- . Primarily a guitarist -M- is a multi-instrumentalist in the studio, where he records almost all of the parts himself.

This unusual artist with a distinctive falsetto voice and colourful imagination is not only the grandson of the poet Andrée Chedid he is also the creator of the -M- world and has toured the universe playing with exceptional musicians for years.

Ten years ago he released “Le Baptême”, followed by three clear-cut and dazzlingly coloured albums that signalled the artistic birth of Matthieu Chedid and firmly placed him on the map. His highly anticipated new album “Mister Mystère” sees -M- “léguer son costume de plumes” ("shed his feather costume") to reveal “ses entrailles en plein trip” (“his tripping innards”). The album wavers between light and darkness, intoxication and wisdom, grey Parisian walls and the sunshine of Mali.

Matthieu Chedid returns more rocky, more confused, more gloomy, more divided, more oriental, more fleshy, more mortal – and in short, more human.
