World Expo 2010 Shanghai China – French Pavilion

| Date: | Tuesday 19 - Friday 22 May 2009 |
| Time : | 9:00am – 11:00pm |
| Venue: | Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Foyer Exhibition Area |
The French Pavilion carries a positive image of the city and its relationship to man. It foresees a universe where man made and natural constructions are intertwined. The Pavilion appears in a Cartesian shape of a quadrangle, embraced by a thin inorganic grid network suspended on a reflecting pool. Lying in the heart of this display case, a formal French garden is placed vertically to create a wholly unexpected theatrical setting.
The exhibition’s way is organised as a gently sloping ramp that circles down around the garden. The Pavilion has for federative theme the “Sensual City”; a place where the 6 senses are exalted –taste, smell, touch, hearing, sight and balance / movement. Exceeding the traditional opposition between heritage and modernity, this art of living the city invites attitudes of confidence towards 21st century: a message that will give an unforgettable image of France during the World Expo 2010.
The model of the French Pavilion for the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China will be exhibited at the Foyer Exhibition Areaof the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (19-22 May 2009), as well as at The University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The architect, Mr. Jacques Ferrier, will give a conference at the two universities.
