AROUND is a month-long territory-wide original and culturally sensitive sound art event that gathers internationally renowned sound artists, performance artists, composers and musicians for live performances, installations, and open dialogues. Site-specific works are presented at the tranquil Tung O Beach in the south of Lamma Island and in old Chinese brick houses in its vicinity. Sound objects and creative audio works are concurrently presented in multiple venues in the city.

AROUND is a direct and positive response to the prevalence of visual culture and noise pollution in the city, the numbing of our sense of hearing as a result, and the growing interest of artists working with sound. AROUND is an occasion for ear cleansing and deep listening.

Composer and invited artist, Jérôme Joy is teaching since 1992 at Villa Arson École Nationale Supérieure d'Art de Nice (National School of Arts), and since 2004 he is research director with Peter Sinclair of the research group Locus Sonus - Audio in Art.
